Ms. Marijo Villano, M.A., is a practicum student clinician who enjoys walking alongside clients’ journeys of healing and growth. Ms. Villano strives to develop a strong therapeutic relationshipbased on safety and trust to foster a comfortable environment for self-exploration. Ms. Villano utilizes emotion-focused and interpersonal approaches to psychotherapy while also facilitating client empowerment. Ms. Villano has experience in working with young adults and adults with presenting concerns such as depression, anxiety, sexual trauma, and familial trauma. Through collaborative efforts, Ms. Villano builds connections through empathy, authenticity, and compassion to strive for the healing and growth of her clients.
Educational and Career Background
Ms. Marijo Villano, M.A., is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University where she also earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Ms. Villano has experience working in a psychiatric hospital and university counseling center providing a range of mental health services. She has experience in providing individual therapy and group therapy with a focus on the treatment of trauma. Ms. Villano also has experience in working with second-generation Americans, as it is an identity she shares as a Filipina American. Ms. Villano is a Practicum Student Clinician under the supervision of Dr. Jantel Jordan, Psy.D.
