a little bit about me

Dr. Nikki Stillo is a Texas licensed psychologist with a strengths based approach to therapy. Dr. Stillo strongly values a collaborative relationship between the therapist and client.  While working toward your goals, you can expect a safe and non-judgmental environment characterized by kindness, compassion, and genuineness.

Dr. Stillo specializes in treating anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, relationship difficulties, trauma, life transition and adjustment concerns.  She has special interests in working with college age and young professional populations, veterans and their partners, and individuals struggling with identity concerns.  In addition to therapy, Dr. Stillo is experienced in conducting psychological assessment of personality, attention difficulties, and learning differences for children and adults.

Educational and Career Background
Dr. Stillo received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas following completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Vanderbilt University-Veteran’s Affairs Consortium in Nashville, TN.  Most recently, Dr. Stillo completed a formal post-doctoral fellowship at Southern Methodist University’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services.  She has experience providing therapy and psychological assessment to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in a wide range of settings including college counseling centers, VA hospitals, community outpatient clinics, and private practice. Dr. Stillo served as a staff psychologist/supervisor at Southern Methodist University for 2.5 years while also building her private practice with Great Life Counseling Center during evenings and Saturdays.  In Fall of 2017, Dr. Stillo became a primary supervisor and her leadership within the Great Life Counseling Center team was recognized with a title change to Director of Clinical Training.  Dr. Stillo left SMU in February 2018 to pursue private practice and her leadership role with Great Life Counseling Center full time.
